Editor's Note: The newsprint version of this story erroneously attributes Jack McMullen as the writer. We apologize for this production error. After Rinder Goddard provided us with a top 10 hit parade, we toured the restaurant to see them for ourselves. Built in , this well-lacquered marine beauty is probably worth its weight in gold. The H-P was the largest airplane of the Great War. It was presented to restaurant owners several years ago as a sincere Indian totem designed to protect Pilar Rinder Goddard, the little sister of co-owner Paris Rinder Goddard. It now has a permanent home in the restaurant.

The quality of this restaurant has gone down over the past several years. We use to love the food here and felt it was a great experience. However, the past few times we have been it was subpar. The decor is tired and even dirty, We always make sure that we stop here for dinner when we are in the area. On this night we had 4 adults. We opted for burgers and wraps, a change from our usual scallops.
Nice bar area also. Call ahead for reservations. About 35 min drive from our lake house but worth the trip to Middlebury. An eclectic setting and great atmosphere, and the King's Cut Prime Rib is famous in the area, finish it and you'll get more on the house. Really, the prime rib and the salad bar are the highlights in our experience.
We've been here before and as everyone continues to point out, the place is unique with a wonderful salad bar. The other night we were there for dinner - ordered the prime rib and the steak scampi dish. The prime rib was not done to order medium rare which is recommended -- it was almost rare but more disappointing it was tough. The steak for the scampi was quite fatty. I hope this was a unique situation since we love the place. I hope management will take notice. This place was excellent.
