I think it was called Mrs. The owner served southern cooking. She later moved on to South Tacoma Way near the intersection of The problem was that you could only get to the restaurant if you were driving north on South Tacoma Way. The point however, is that we enjoy southern cooking. Now, however after changes of owners, a great review and a personal appearance of Guy Fieri in Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, I went back. We have an amazing culinary team that serves innovative New American cuisine as well as American favorites. We give the same attention to detail when making great craft libations ranging from a Moonshine Mule to our own Oscar Punch! We are quickly becoming the best happy hour in Tacoma. Our lunch and dinner menus are available every day and breakfast is served daily until 2pm. We make delicious things.
Saw this place on Diners Drive Ins and Dives. Met a couple from Tacoma there last night. Really enjoyed the entire dining experience. From our initial greeting to the very attentive and friendly waiter to our food. Nice decor with separate tables to eat or drink at. No one in our party drinks but it's not mandatory at this place.

Nearly two months ago Chef Charlie McManus learned Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives was interest in the neighborhood pub he and his partner, Jacqueline Plattner, transformed from a beloved breakfast joint then semi-beloved steak joint into their street-food slinging, buttermilk fried chicken cookin', craft cocktail pouring Crown Bar on Tacoma's Sixth Avenue. Then nothing. Not a peep from food-centric producers.
We were headed to Gig Harbor, so it was an easy stop in Tacoma on the way back to Seattle. While not located in the best part of town, this is a cute little building with an okay interior. Luckily, we arrived at a non-prime time hour, so there were only a few tables taken. We started with the Fried Green Tomatoes, which were perhaps the best "hit" on the menu; not overly ripe, thin cut and not overly greasy. I ordered the Southen Fried Chicken and found it to be moist and tasty; perhaps a bit too greasy, but, that's what fried chicked is all about, right? The second "hit" was the collard greens, which were simply excellent.
