As Sylvian slowly makes his way to the fated meeting between the pair, his backing looms onward and grows increasingly tense — a warm fuzz builds along with gentle chimes as if it were a cold and windy night in a dimly-lit town in the middle of nowhere. The conflict reaches a summit but without a conclusion and the resolution is ultimately up to the audience itself. There Is No Loveperfectly attains the feeling of hopelessness throughout its brief thirty-minute reading, and puts you into the situation at hand.
Debut release in the new Confront Core Series imprint. Studio recording of the text piece "There is no love" which was premiered at Cafe Oto, London on 31st October as part of the Confront Recordings Twentieth Anniversary celebrations. For starters we have the trademark difficulty connected to the acceptation of music merging spoken word and rarefied movement. From the very first time this record sucked me in to the point of not wanting to listen to anything else, as if other musics were a polluting threat to the strange interior serenity conveyed by these three gentlemen. The soothing consequence is practically identical in spite of entirely different origins, sonic tensions and creative purposes. What remains is a chain of wavering suggestions: exactly what one needs to be delivered from the perennial interference of groundless assumption.
